A New Dawn – Community Centre Project

Alhamdulillah, Seven Spikes Relief has successfully secured a large three-storey building with a basement, historically known as The White Hart Pub / Mojo Bar, located at 159 High Road, South Woodford (E18).

Insha’Allah, this historic building will soon undergo a beautiful transformation from a former pub into a place of faith, service, and unity — a vibrant Community Centre welcoming Muslims and non-Muslims across North-East London and beyond.

This is a rare and powerful opportunity to reshape a landmark building into a long-term hub of worship, learning, service, and community connection.

Subject to planning approval, the vision includes:

• A dedicated open-plan prayer space (mussalla)

• Wudu facilities and accessible prayer areas

• Educational workshops and transferable life skills programmes

• Free or subsidised tuition for children and young people

• Youth engagement initiatives and mentoring

• Family-friendly events that strengthen relationships and community bonds

• Inter-community collaboration promoting understanding and dialogue

• Integrated support services including food assistance, hardship relief, wellbeing guidance, and counselling

Initial works will include applying for planning permission, completing essential remedial and construction works, creating open-plan prayer and community spaces, establishing dedicated facilities for women, youth, and children, and installing the necessary internal finishes and infrastructure to make the building operational.

Phase 1 of the project is estimated at £1.7 million, covering property acquisition, planning applications, and essential renovation works.

There are many ways to contribute. A donation of £3,500 can sponsor one musalla, helping establish a permanent prayer space that will serve worshippers and the wider community for generations. Other contributions will support structural works, facilities development, and the essential infrastructure required to open the doors of this centre.
